What Pancragen is

Pancragen is a short synthetic peptide of the bioregulator class, studied in experimental research on pancreatic tissue and cellular aging.

The mechanism proposed by the peptide's developers is transcriptional: that KEDW acts on the transcription factors governing pancreatic cell differentiation. In cultures of human embryonic pancreatic cells aged by serial passage, pancragen was reported to increase expression of the acinar differentiation factors Pdx1 and Ptf1a and of the islet factors Pdx1, Pax6, Pax4, Foxa2 and Nkx2.2, with the authors naming those… How it works →

Key evidence

  • Korkushko et al., Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine · 2011 · Humans (30 healthy older adults; 33 older patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus)
In the diabetic group, pancragen was associated with lower fasting glucose, lower glucose on a standard glucose tolerance test, and lower plasma insulin and insulin resistance index; no change in carbohydrate metabolism indices was reported in patients not receiving it. Nocturnal melatonin was about 70% lower in diabetic than in healthy older participants. 2
  • Goncharova et al., Advances in Gerontology (in Russian) · 2015 · Animals (nine old, 20–25 year, clinically healthy female rhesus monkeys, Macaca mulatta)
Both agents were associated with lower basal glucose; pancragen was additionally associated with normalisation of insulin and C-peptide levels, while glimepiride produced a more pronounced and delayed glucose-lowering effect with stimulated C-peptide secretion but little change in insulin. The authors' characterisation of the peptide as safe is not supported by any formal safety assessment in the report. 3
  • Goncharova et al., Advances in Gerontology (in Russian) · 2014 · Animals (old versus young female rhesus monkeys)
Old animals showed a reduced glucose disappearance rate and higher insulin and C-peptide peaks than young animals; after pancragen the glucose disappearance rate increased and insulin and C-peptide dynamics were reported to normalise, with the effect partially retained three weeks after discontinuation. 4

What the human evidence shows

No approved or established human dose

We searched PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov and found no human studies that administered Pancragen. The research described on its page is from cells or animals, and animal amounts do not translate to people.

How long did human studies run?

  • Pankragen forte was given for 4 weeks in the prediabetes study 15.
Cycle-length evidence for Pancragen

Who was excluded from the studies

  • The indexed studies enrolled older adults (with impaired glucose tolerance or type 2 diabetes); no study in younger adults receiving the peptide, children, pregnancy or lactation was identified 15,2.

Supplies and handling

  • Lyophilized vial
Sealed vial with the freeze-dried cake. Check the label, lot and the certificate of analysis before opening.
  • Sterile diluent
The diluent named on the product documentation. Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol; sterile water does not.
  • Graduated syringes
Sized to the volume being measured. U-100 insulin syringes are graduated in units where 100 units = 1 mL.
  • Alcohol prep pads
For wiping vial stoppers before each puncture.
  • Nitrile gloves
    Clean gloves for aseptic handling.
  • Sharps container
    Puncture-resistant container for used needles.

Storage

Handling should follow the certificate of analysis and written documentation supplied with the specific lot; no stability or handling data specific to this compound were identified in the sources reviewed. Short lyophilised peptides are generally treated as hygroscopic, light-sensitive solids whose reconstituted solutions are chemically less stable than the dry material. Amiravo does not provide preparation, reconstitution or administration instructions.

  • Lyophilized (unmixed) vials: typically stored cold and dry, away from light, as the documentation directs. Many are stable longer frozen.
  • Reconstituted vials: typically refrigerated (about 2–8 °C), protected from light and not frozen.
  • Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth in multi-use vials; sterile water has no preservative.

Handling mistakes and troubleshooting

Added the wrong volume of diluent
The concentration changes, not the amount of compound in the vial. Recalculate with the volume actually added and relabel the vial.
Shook the vial and it foamed
Let it settle in the refrigerator. Foam is a sign of agitation; some peptides aggregate when shaken. Note it on the label.
The solution is cloudy or has particles
Do not use it. Cloudiness can indicate incomplete dissolution, contamination or degradation. Record the lot and contact the supplier with the certificate of analysis.
The powder cake looks melted or shrunken before reconstitution
This can indicate the vial was exposed to heat or moisture. Record the lot and condition on arrival.
Liquid sprayed back when the needle was removed
Pressure built up in the vial. Withdraw a small volume of air while adding diluent to keep pressure neutral.

Regulatory status

Status
Not approved by the FDA for any use; no human drug labeling matching this name was returned by the openFDA Drug Label API 11.
United States (FDA)
There is no approved FDA application for this peptide; an openFDA Drug Label API query returned no matching human drug labeling 11. Neither "pancragen" nor "Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp" appears in any of the three categories of FDA's list of bulk drug substances nominated for use in compounding under section 503A of the FD&C Act, as updated 14 May 2026 12.
Sport (WADA)
Not named in the WADA 2026 Prohibited List 13. That absence is hedged negative evidence and not a clearance. Section S0 prohibits at all times "any pharmacological substance which is not currently approved by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use (e.g. drugs under pre-clinical or clinical development or discontinued, designer drugs, substances approved only for veterinary use)" and states that the class "covers many different substances including but not limited to" its named examples; section S2 prohibits the listed peptide hormones, growth factors and mimetics "and other substances with similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s)" 13.

Status varies by country and changes over time. How we describe regulatory status.

Frequently asked questions

What doses of Pancragen have been studied in humans?
None that establish an amount. Pancragen is not approved anywhere and we found no human studies that administered it. Amiravo does not publish community or vendor figures.
Is there an established Pancragen cycle length?
No cycle length or break has been established. Human studies administered Pancragen for the periods listed on this page; those are study durations, not a recommended course.
How much bacteriostatic water should be added to a Pancragen vial?
There is no compound-specific volume. The diluent volume only sets the concentration: concentration = mass in the vial ÷ volume added (for example, 10 mg in 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL). The calculator on this page shows the arithmetic for any combination.
How many units is a given amount on an insulin syringe?
On a U-100 syringe, 100 units = 1 mL. Units for an amount = amount ÷ (concentration per unit). The calculator converts any amount you enter at the concentration you choose; a unit is a volume mark, not an amount of compound.
Is Pancragen FDA-approved?
Not approved — research use only. Not approved by the FDA for any use; no human drug labeling matching this name was returned by the openFDA Drug Label API 11.
